I'm releasing the dream & going to retire 35 or more old DOS pre-windows desktop CPU’s/computers(286?) with 3½” floppy disc drives, dozens of new blank 3½” discs, and many CRT monitors & monitor stands, and many dozens of cords. Interested?

As a career bilingual primary teacher, I used a group of these old DOS computers to create independent learning environments in my classroom. I was able to raise my young students’ academic levels while I worked more with small reading groups. I created over 12 solid programs (SPANISH and ENGLISH coded in B.A.S.I.C. language) that I used to teach my kindergarten through third graders the basics in math, spelling, and grammar.

My efforts were so successful that in the year 2000 I began to place single computers in the homes of my neediest students, giving them the boost that they needed at home at no cost. I controlled these by sending home a 3½” floppy disc on a periodic basis that downloaded the most recent student achievement levels and uploaded the newest updates and auto-exec files to keep the home computers functioning exactly like the classroom machines.

I purchased & collected 35 nearly identical CPU’s and almost as many monitors and keyboards so that the operation and programming would operate the same at home as in my classroom.

The dream became to create small 8 computer labs that I would donate to private schools, home schooler groups, etc. (and perhaps to orphanages and schools in rural areas, even in other countries such as Mexico.) But I have long since retired from the profession and you can imagine the amount of space those machines have occupied in my garage. It’s time to also retire the dream.

I still wish to bless children, but my age requires that I do it through other people. Are you or some you know interested in any way? Contact me soon, before the e-cycle date arrives.
.
If you call, know that I cannot always reach my phone in time, but I respond to all voicemails, text messages & emails.
