Nice old Olds Super cornet
Manufactured in Los Angeles, ~1940 (serial 89xx).
The valves are good to excellent, plating is good, smooth and quick.
Compression is excellent.
Little sign of past denting or abuse, no signs of re-soldering braces or joints.
For someone so inclined, this looks to me like a superb candidate for cosmetic restoration.
I chemically removed the original lacquer, because when I got the horn, it was in a VERY stinky case, and the horn stank too. Not just smelled bad, STANK. The old lacquers absorbed smells big time.
I did nothing else to the horn except cleaning, refreshing the corks and felts. No polishing or buffing.
The tuning slide stop rod is missing.
This has the original large-shank receiver, like all Olds cornets well into the 50's.
It comes in a clean, but not period, case.
$445 cash only.
I don't reply to "still available?" queries.
