Birch

Although it's never been easy,
I try time after time.
I want a love that's breezy.
It seems I'll have to climb.

Up I reach for the nearest branch.
I hope it will bare my weight,
Crying out an avalanche
that shows my heart's true freight.

Higher still I try to reach
until I find the place
where my lover seeks to teach
me of the beauty of embrace.

Until that sweetheart catches me
I'll sit upon that birch.
Then singing of a jubilee,
my love is sure to search.
