***This is a "REVERSE AUCTION"--WATCH THE PRICE GO DOWN until it sells or until I take it off the market***
This is the BSA 650 they invented to whip a Bonneville. Look it up in the famous 1968 BSA "Bonnie and Clyde" ad.
Zero miles on professionally rebuilt engine. (The stated mileage is not correct as everyone knows, Smith's odometer never last 15,000 miles before they breakdown!) This Spitfire is in parts for you to reassemble. All the black steel is fully powder-coated and ready to assemble. The engine bottom end was professionally rebuilt by Rick Price, the service manager at Raber's BSA in San Jose. Fenders and stays are all re-chromed. All the aluminum castings were vapor blasted in my own VB cabinet. The Borrani alloy wheel rims are rebuilt using new stainless steel spokes with new tubes and modern tires. Choice of two tanks: the original fiberglass 2-gallon tank or the big 4-gallon long distance tank replica made in India. You will need kits of frame bolts and fender bolts. It's got all the small parts: speedo, tach, dual seat, controls, most rubber parts, painted side covers, toolbox with pouch--no tools.
The parts unique to the 1968 Spitfire: rider's flip-up foot pegs, Amal Concentric carburetors are more reliable than the 1966-only GP carburetors, Borrani (not Dunlop) wheel rims, TLS front brake 1968-1974 was the best brake in the industry. I have read that the 1968's might carry a letter "A" date code (for 1967). And are stamped "-Y". Due to the Viet Nam War, the 1967's did not sell out and were carried over to 1968.
Bring your boxes and spend a couple of hours counting and loading all the parts.
Reason for selling is I had a heart attack a year ago and now I can't work on them anymore.
