Seeking a Maintenance Painter must have experience painting on metal.
The Maintenance Painter is a non-exempt position responsible for assisting the Maintenance Mechanics effect repairs as well as applying paint, varnishes, and similar coatings to materials such as metals, woods, and plastics. They use various techniques to apply paint, including sprays, rollers, and brushes.
They perform associated maintenance on the production and non-production facility, machinery, and necessary accessories. This includes painting the interiors and exteriors of buildings, painting machinery of all different types and sizes including cleaning and preparing the surface to be painted, removing previous finishes and cleaning up the area after each step of preparation and painting itself is done. This position requires a flexible work schedule to effect necessary preventive maintenance as well as scheduled and non-scheduled routine maintenance to eliminate or substantially reduce machine downtime. The Maintenance Painter must be able to effectively work in a team and have strong communication skills.
Employee Responsibilities:
1. Maintain all structures, machines and equipment in a continuing operation condition.
2. Inspects structures, evaluates work to be performed, and determines the best method for performing maintenance and repair work.
3. Coordinates building repair, renovation, or restoration projects. Performs maintenance, repair, or inspection work on metal, sheetrock, wood framing and painted surfaces Inspects equipment, machinery, systems, and building accessories and appliances to ensure proper maintenance and repair.
4. Assist in the general maintenance of forklifts, automobiles, and other equipment.
5. Eliminate or minimize downtime related to machinery failure, by ongoing preventive maintenance practices. Perform necessary emergency repairs.
6. Prep parts prior to painting using compressed air to dry and apply masking as needed. Apply appropriate primer coating to treated metal surfaces. Apply topcoat to primed parts in accordance with appearance standards. Repair paint defects when occurring.
7. Change out paints, primer and catalyze as required. Mix colors or oils to obtain desired color or consistency.
8. Requisitions materials and equipment and maintain records of materials used to complete work orders.
9. Specify supply and equipment requirements, and work with vendors in a professional, effective manner.
10. Perform necessary supply pick-up or other maintenance related functions.
11. Stock paint equipment and supplies in proper locations. Perform daily preventative maintenance on paint and finish application equipment.
12. Cooperate with or serve on the Safety Committee when requested; contribute to the identification and
correction of unsafe working conditions.
13. May perform workshop operations to fabricate specialized items needed for project work or to refinish
furniture, doors, etc.
14. Performs other related duties as assigned.
