Jedi is an 8 year old OTTB gelding standing 16.2 hands.
He went to the track and raced a handful of times when he was younger. He did get a knee injury and had surgery to remove a bone chip. He was on rest for a full year and has been sound since. He was cleared to race again but did not go back to the track. He is currently barefoot.
I mostly ride him western or bareback recreationally. He does best with arena work, inside or outside. Would make a great intermediate lesson horse.
He lunges like a dream and does well with voice commands.
I’ve had my husband, kids and other kids ride him. I’ve given lessons on him with young kids, mostly on a lunge line.
Jedi would need finished training in collection. He tends to hold his head high. I usually ride him in a running martingale to which he responds really well.
He loads in the trailer very easily. He bathes well.
Cons:
He seems to have two personalities. One is super calm, he doesn’t care about much, anyone can ride him. He will do whatever you ask.
The other side is “race horse” energy, he can get spirited and doesn’t want to stand still. I have still ridden him with this energy. He likes to run but will listen if a confident rider shuts it down. And while he loads in the trailer well, he gets anxious when at new locations. He gets this energy when riding on trails. He is good in an outdoor arena, but gets anxious on trails. He is the type of horse that notices when a new obstacle/object is present and does better after repeated exposure.
He is NOT a good trail horse.
For these reasons, he needs at least an intermediate rider.
I am selling as I have too many horses and don’t have the time he deserves. I want to ensure he goes to a home that works. Happy to answer any more questions.
