Restoration by prior owners: Factory exchange engine with likely increased cylinder sizes - my mechanic estimates it to be about 1400 cc now by the way it performs. Converted to 12V with alternator - otherwise stock. Paint and ceramic coating applied. New interior.
Work I had done in past 5 years: tires and spare, jack and tools, front suspension rebuilt, correct rear floor plates installed, rear view mirror with sun visors, wiper motor, trunk liners, the plush "Beetle" by wife, tuned up, gaskets, oil change, etc. last year. Runs strong. Good brakes and handling. Heater works and even the defroster once the engine is warmed up. Always garaged. Mileage is not correct. The OD either was replaced or rolled over, I don't know the actual mileage.
This is the first year with a fuel gauge, continued small license plate light cover, non-yellow turn signals. Built in November 1961 as a 1962 model. Original Sapphire I radio gets one local station but has jack for cell phone. Comes with box of new parts, plus original fold out rear windows, another steering wheel, glove box size copy of owner's manual.
I have had fun driving this beauty for almost 5 years and enjoy getting the thumbs up from drivers and pedestrians all the time. I need the garage space now. Located in South Salem Sunnyslope area.
