This is a roto-molded, polyethylene sea kayak in excellent condition. Just a few scratches on the bottom. It has been stored indoors on foam cradles since 2018 and used no more than 5-10 times each summer except during COVID.
The skeg is in good working order, the decklines and bungees in good condition, 3 hatches are clean and dry, and seat is simple but comfortable. The skeg can be fully or partially lowered. It has adjustable, twist lock footrests.
I have really enjoyed this boat. I am selling it because I purchased a shorter boat that would be lighter and easier to load on my van by myself as I age.
I purchased this boat used from an outfitter west of Skamokawa, WA on the Columbia River in the fall of 2018. It looked brand new and had apparently been kept indoors. They said that customers usually chose to paddle the recreational kayaks in their fleet, so the Capella wasn’t getting much use.
According to Venture Kayaks, this boat is a great first sea kayak, easy to paddle but with performance to allow progression. It combines performance, durability, and versatility. It is suitable for relaxed expeditions on larger rivers, lakes, and coastal areas as well as open crossings and multiday trips in challenging conditions. This is a classic British sea kayak. It is manufactured using a Triple Layer Process affording superior buoyancy, strength, and rigidity.
