Visit our website for complete schedules and details of our volunteer program http://www.wvh.org

You choose which area of volunteering works best for you and how often you volunteer. We are very flexible and will work with you on how you want to make a difference.

We need you! We serve patients in Marion and Polk Counties. We are looking for volunteers in all geographical areas!

Our mission at Willamette Valley Hospice is to enhance the quality of life for terminally ill persons and their families, to provide bereavement support for the caregivers and families of our patients and members of the community, and to educate the community about end of life philosophy and programs.

Our volunteers can help in a variety of ways:

PATIENT CARE
Give respite to the family/caregivers of our patients, usually by spending 3-4 hours per week with the patient while the caregiver gets a break. Or visit patients in facilities, usually 1 hour per week as a friendly visitor. You can read with patient, play board games with patients, or just simply sit with a patient holding their hand.

BEREAVEMENT
You can assist families that have experienced the death of a loved one. You can telephone our bereaved families to give support, help co-facilitate our six week grief support groups for children and adults. You can help at our Community Memorial Services or help with our children’s summer camp.

OUTREACH/COMMUNITY SUPPORT
You can help in the office with mailings, stuffing envelopes, gathering statistics, assisting with special projects, filing and data entry. You can also participate in our Speaker's Bureau, which educates the community about hospice. You can also assist with special events and fundraising.

OFFICE SUPPORT
We have many opportunities helping us in the office with mailings, packet assembly, data entry, phone calls, and much more.

YOUTH VOLUNTEERS
Volunteers age 16 years or older can provide patient support. Those 12-16 years old can help in the office or with special projects. We have many great opportunities for youth: annual scholarships, community service, meeting new people, and much more.

PET THERAPY AND LIFE REVIEW
Volunteers can support our patients and family with Pet Therapy (additional evaluation required). We also offer Life Review, which is helping our patients leave a life story for their family.

SPECIAL PROJECTS VOLUNTEER
You can help by making quilts and pillows, knitting lap blankets, creating greeting cards and much more to support our patients and families
